About me
I am Dr. Micah Jatau, a medical doctor currently serving as Resident Doctor of Community Health at the Federal University Teaching Hospital, Lafia, Nigeria. I am a digital health enthusiast focused on health informatics, epidemiology, and clinical workflow automation, blending clinical practice with empirical analysis to improve care delivery in resource-limited settings. I also design workflow automations and AI-enabled agents to reduce manual bottlenecks in clinical and operational workflows.
I have managed diverse patient populations, contributed to guideline development, and led departmental performance audits. These experiences revealed critical gaps in electronic health record systems that slow decision-making and limit data-driven care. I focus on redesigning documentation workflows and analytics pipelines so clinicians can surface evidence quickly and consistently.
My analytics toolkit includes R (tidyverse, ggplot2, statistical modeling) and PostgreSQL for complex queries and reproducible reporting. Recent work includes analyzing discharge summary completeness and its relationship to readmission patterns, demonstrating how data quality directly affects outcomes.
Research interests
- Clinical Decision Support Systems and EHR Optimization
- Natural Language Processing for Clinical Documentation
- Health Informatics Applications in Low-Resource Settings
- Predictive Analytics for Population Health Management
I am preparing for doctoral studies in Biomedical and Health Informatics, aiming to develop computational solutions that enhance clinical workflows and decision-making. My goal is to create scalable informatics tools that bridge clinical expertise with data-driven insights for healthcare systems in developing countries.
My long-term vision is to establish research programs that translate informatics innovations into practical solutions for underserved populations, combining clinical insight with advanced computational methods to improve global health outcomes.
