Workflow and maturity audit
I used the audit to move beyond the question of whether an EMR exists. The more useful question is which documentation, ordering, storage, and decision-support capabilities are actually present enough to change care delivery.
The work reviews early EMRAM maturity stages and identifies what each stage requires from the hospital information environment: ancillary system coverage, clinical documentation, order entry, medication administration, and decision-support foundations.
The audit shows how maturity assessment can guide implementation priorities rather than becoming a compliance checklist. It links technology adoption to the clinical workflows, documentation quality, and decision-support capabilities needed for safer care.
